Lions leave moshers ask for more

December 16, 2008 would be remembered as one of the most memorable day for almost every mosher who moshed around the moshpit at DDSC stadium Tuesday evening.

It was the date for another ‘Rock-for-a-cause’ show, as internationally acclaimed and legendary band ‘White Lion’ took the stage, LIVE!

Following a brief holdup, the opening riffs and beats of local band ‘Native Rising’ (NR) kicked off the show, along with some amazing stage stunts. With their original “On my own” NR roused the reception.

“Shine”, “Near up” by XTC got a loud and unanimous ‘Yes!” from the crowd, and a wide smile from the band.

And that was not the end. It was clearly just the beginning of a very memorable evening.

The true psychedelic experience began with “White Lion”, as they crossed the threshold and invaded the stage with their powerful and amplifying sound.

After paying homage to deaf children, through the instrumental prelude, Lions showed up with “Dream” before moving onto the goosebump-inducing “When the Children Cry”.

With amazing lyrics and pyrotechnics synchronized superbly with the sound effects, it started off with “Till death do us apart”.

The abrupt attack “We’ll Rock you” was overshadowed by the mind-blowing follow-ups and energetic act.

White Lion then moved onto some brilliant solo material “Lady of the valley”. This alternate contemporary left the audience stunned.

However, the night wasn’t a calm musical evening; this was the all-mood socio-political-themed anthemic music that kept the White Lion’s banner flying high.

By now, the crowd had warmed itself up very nicely. Their muscles had been sufficiently stretched to give into the coming mosh. All the better for the ‘madding crowd’ who built one of the “biggest” moshpits Dimapur has ever seen. Arms, legs and other extendable parts of the body were seen flying all over the place, much to the surprise of the security personnel, who had no idea that this was “supposed” to happen.

The “You’re all I need” brought in the tightest act of the night. Their song “Thousand years ago” was very mosh-friendly.

Jamie Law (the Guitarist) just kicked things off, as he move about the stage. Frontrunner of the band Mike Tramp – the vocalist – displayed more energy and contributed to building crowd.

Tramp speaking during the transition expressed his satisfaction and said, “We’ll tell the world (other international bands) to come more often to Dimapur and perform.” He remarked that the audience was awesome. “Best audience we have played so far,” Tramp yelled.

Their over all performance was very “ENERGETIC” (for deficiency of a better word).

After an uncertain stage exit, Lions returned for an encore (presumably), where, the band after shelling out “farewell to you” Lions left the stage with an image that would truly reside into the minds of more than ten thousand crowds that thronged the stadium.
