Nagaland government suspends coal mining

DIMAPUR, NOV 5 (NPN): Government of Nagaland through the department of Geology and Mining has prohibited extraction and sale of coal on the strength of Coal Prospecting License (CPL) issued earlier besides imposing a ban on issuance of any fresh CPL. Director of Geology and Mining H.K.Chishi in a press communiqué has also directed operators, currently operating mines without valid CPL and coal mining lease (CML) and transporting coal without valid transit pass (TP) and coal transport challan (CTC) to immediately stop/close their mines with immediate effect . The operators have also been directed to re-apply for CLP with proper mining and environment protection plan under the rules. The department cautioned that those defying the new directives would be deemed to be guilty and legal proceedings initiated against them under the relevant provision of the mining laws. Observing that mining in general affects the existing land, water and air system, the state had brought ...

IMPOSSIBLE IS TEMPORARY

Impossible is just a big word thrown around by small men who find it easier to live in the world they've been given than to explore the power they have to change it. Impossible is not a fact. It's an opinion. Impossible is not a declaration. It's a dare. Impossible is potential. Impossible is temporary. Impossible is nothing. -nba

Lions leave moshers ask for more

December 16, 2008 would be remembered as one of the most memorable day for almost every mosher who moshed around the moshpit at DDSC stadium Tuesday evening. It was the date for another ‘Rock-for-a-cause’ show, as internationally acclaimed and legendary band ‘White Lion’ took the stage, LIVE! Following a brief holdup, the opening riffs and beats of local band ‘Native Rising’ (NR) kicked off the show, along with some amazing stage stunts. With their original “On my own” NR roused the reception. “Shine”, “Near up” by XTC got a loud and unanimous ‘Yes!” from the crowd, and a wide smile from the band. And that was not the end. It was clearly just the beginning of a very memorable evening. The true psychedelic experience began with “White Lion”, as they crossed the threshold and invaded the stage with their powerful and amplifying sound. After paying homage to deaf children, through the instrumental prelude, Lions showed up with “Dream” before moving onto the goosebump-inducing “When the Ch...
Naga United Village Council (NUVC) has affirmed to reoccupy Intanki National Park (INP) unless Beisumpuikam village was also evicted, as both villages were declared “illegal” by Nagaland Forest Department. “Unless Beisumpuikam village is evicted we will continue to occupy the land. But, if government evict Beisumpuikam village also we will voluntarily vacate the land,” the NUVC members asserted. The NUVC maintained that 14 Naga tribes of Nagaland had to establish Naga United village in Intanki reserve forest because the Nagaland government could not evict the encroached Beisumpuikam village where majority population were from outside the state. Talking to pressperson here at the evicted site, the villagers termed the eviction drive carried out by NSCN (I-M) and state government on June 16 and June 24 respectively as “partial eviction”. Elaborating “partial eviction” the NUVC members said though there were three encroached villages inside INP the eviction was carried out only at...

Rock vs Evil

Rock defeats evil as the strings started rolling Drum rooooooooooolll….You may term it biased or something but the hullabaloo that crowd bellowed at the Rock United Festival-II Saturday night at DDSC Stadium Dimapur was brilliant and captivating. After an abnormally long music deprived period, it was lucky enough to be a part of Rock United Festival-II that occurred in Dimapur, making it pop up distinctively from the rest Gigs (Local of course) I attended so far. The festival was simply breathtaking, scaring the hell out of my butt head!! Truly it was a battle against anti-social elements social evils. The festival, though started to take its shape an hour behind the schedule, the opening acts by Lost Park and Melodrama gave a sigh if relief to starving heavy metal activists to bang their heads in chorus. The first to exploit the stage was Lost Park with their mesmerizing originals, swiping the psyche of metal fanatics. Their original ‘Inside me’ was a sure sho...

EAT MEAT AND SHIT

“I don’t give a piece of shit to what people say, I only give a piece of meat to what people pay”, said the President-in-charge of 55 th A/C Food Union of Nagaland (F.U.N) during the inaugural function of 585994 th butcher in town. I too sincerely don’t give a darn shit to what introvert had to say, but to my WaKaW!!(Surprise), F.U.N has constitution as well, where their preamble reads like this- ‘we the semi-literate members of F.U.N, inarticulately resolves to constitute our Plate-full-of-meat-on-the-extreme-left-side-of-the-entrance-door to be a communist (Marxist) before we, altogether say 1, 2, 3 and burp away…’ plizzzzz…that wasn’t a joke, consider it. I guess some sort of infectious virus might have polluted their mind, body and soul while drafting their (stupid) constitution which I believe might be causing irritation to you because it doesn’t make any sense. Right? Now-kicking politics aside-how greedy do you develop yourself when the visual and smell of whatever meat ...

Food, Shelter and Shoe

(WARNING: The Article may burst upon your face if you possibly lack sense of humour) Excuse me. Wow! You are wearing a nice shoe. How much did you shell out for that? Show room oooor Hazi park-huh? huh? huh? You seem to be blushing-how Chweeeet. Okay! One question. Do you consider shoes to be an integral part of your cracked heel? Well, if you have chivalrously smiled and nodded YES! Good for you-you have won a free trip to the galaxy of shoes. But, if you’ve sarcastically nodded NO! Bad for you-even that crack cream can not save your heels from further terror strike. Don’t get flustered, am just hehehe…kidding. Nevertheless, throw that 10 year and 13 th day ka shoe and just read on. Remember? The old maxim-Food, Shelter and Cloth. Yeah! So if we metamorphose it into-Food, Shelter and Shoe, wouldn’t that be funny? Just consider. You get up in the morning, take bath, eat food, wear your shoe (remember only shoe) and move out on a days work (looong-pause). Don...
